DO NOT TRUST

Rentalcars.com does zero research and resolve on fraudulent charges. When their local provider charges me an unexplained charge to the credit card I provided for a deposit, they demanded that I provide proof of the transaction. I provided proof of the credit card charge from my bank. They closed my case.

No car No refund

Terrible experience. Found myself and my family without a car in Dortmund. Sixt cancelled my reservation because I was around 1 and half hours late. Sixt representative said Rentalcar had not informed them about flight number and gabe away the car. Despite Sixt did not charge any penny itself, Rentalcar.com took full payment of 1000USD . Standing on the counter I started chatting with Rentalcar representative several times and every time the application stopped sending massages in the middle of conversation. Finally I got the answers that I lost all the amount and they are sorry for that. I’m utterly disappointed by rentalcar and I hope you won’t be in my position with them ever ❤️🙏

Do not use this app

When u hire a car with this app you pay extra for protection and then when u pick car up they force you to pay 320euros for protection when u ask why they say the protection u already paid is for the app but this one is for us. And you have to pay or u loose your booking and your money, very bad costumer service when u want to complain the fraud, they never answer phone or emails For the records the rental was from record go Alicante train station

Worst third party car rental service

This is the worst third party car rental to book with. Car company would not release car that was booked because of uncovered fees that the app did not show. Tried calling company while problem was happening (closer to midnight), but unsuccessful in reaching someone without going through so much of their automatic customer service. Priority was trying to get another last minute car rental at the airport and figured to call the next day (had 3 other adults and 3 children to worry about). Next day the call consisted of a lot of back and forth with customer service and a long process of filling out a claim just for them to deny it. Not only did I lose the deposit of the booking for whatever reason, but I had to spend triple amount of money at the airport for another car rental. NEVER AGAIN!

Rentalcars is a scam

Just google it and you will find all the cases that people had posted in reddit. In my case the just kept my money. No car provided.

Car booked through this app. Rental company was non-existent: doors locked, phone number non working, but the rental was prepaid, so carrentals.com / booking.com kept the money. DO NOT USE THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY. This app shouldn’t be available on the App Store.

Useless

Entered my email and booking reference number- nothing. Tried to let app search by my email. Still nothing. Epic fail. Absolutely worthless app.

Best deals, easiest booking ever!

My experience with Rentalcars.com has been perfect! They consistently have the best deals by a large margin and the booking process could not be easier! Download the app for quick access to your reservation! I’ve booked twice and will absolutely go with them in the future!

Can’t reserve a car

App is buggy. Doesn’t allow me to reserve a car when I change my country of residence to a small tiny country called USA. It tells me it’s not possible. In addition, it randomly changes the dates in my search. For all I care, the app development team, the qa/testing team, all the way the CTO should be fired for incompetence.

Totally scam

I made a reservation and paid for it, but when I got to the company's counter, they asked for a deposit of $2,000 or I had to accept an insurance of $50 a day, rentalcars took my money without warning me about this and when I wanted to cancel, they just told me that I would lose my money

Worst rental car option ever

Prepaid a car, got charged almost doubled when I picked up the worst rental car I have ever had. The after math, Europcar couldn’t give me a receipt, and fighting to get that money back was impossible. Because Rental car and Europcar couldn’t fond the booking to solve this issue. Rental car was an absolute ZERO on helping. They want me to do their job. I will NEVER use this service again! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

Been hours trying to book

Doesn’t accept my credit card entry but card is valid and accepted by everyone. Many attempts. Waste of time!

Impossible to actually use

Use apps all the time. This one you are supposed to be able to have an e-voucher for your car so you don't have to print or try and remember. I can never get the evoucher to actually come up. You're supposed to get a link in your email that you have to click on to verify. Never seems to show up or if it does, it only works once and the next time you try to log into app you'll be starting over with no success. Not intuitive, hard to use and not clear.

Absolutely the best rental car app I’ve ever used. I tell everyone to use this app and I will until I get screwed over! Thank you!!!!

Could not get refund.

I tried renting a car for less than 24 hours. While at the airport, I went to the Fox counter. Because I did not have a credit card, I could not pay the additional security deposit fee. I could not even be offered a third of what I paid for a refund. Still at the time of this review, having trouble cancelling my review.

Useless

Absolute piece of junk app. Downloaded it to use the evoucher, but chronically states there is no internet connection. No problem with my connection as all other apps are working fine. Worthless!

If you do a booking and for some reason can’t find booking . Calling CSR they can’t find it without the booking # not by email or teléfono number . CSR is in India

I DON’T recommend this App… O booked with them and the reservation was confirmed then when I got to the airport at the car hire agency they said the reservation is cancelled… so what’s the point of making a reservation then finding it was cancelled and be forced to take a car double the price at the car hire agency!!!

Rentals from airport

I was not informed that I had to have a round trip ticket to rent from the airport location. So I should be given a full refund but no. Customer service said it was my loss. Poor service and no caring for the actual customer. I would not recommend this service or will I ever use it again.

Costs not accurate

Rented a car with this site but the actual charges where 5x what the quote said. Does not appear well regulated.

this app is jacked

I have tried every possible way I can to create an account with rentalcars.com on this app. It just sits there and does the waiting thing. Sometimes I get as far as having a link sent to my email to verify my account but then that just sits there and spins like it’s waiting for something. Pretty stupid.

Easy Peast

I went in to update my car details because I wanted a bigger car because my passengers are tall. Well I was able to get a bigger car for cheaper with just a few clicks. Thanks

This is a scam

Flew into Orlando and this place was no where to be found. Called ahead and they never answered. I finally got ahold of someone in the UK. They gave me the run around . I was told I could cancel and rebook with them. All they needed was to be paid again and I would get a refund from the 1st booking. No way was I falling for this. I demanded a refund and they said they would charge me $139 for cancellation fee and the rest would be refunded. I agreed knowing full well that i would never see any money returned. Contacted my credit card and they gave me the refund. Total scam so don’t fall for it.

Poor service and follow up

I had a very disappointing experience with Rentalcars.com. It is unacceptable that they did not provide the reserved car at LAS airport and failed to issue a refund. As a customer, it is frustrating to expect services paid for and not receive them.

The prices shown on the app are not true

I booked a car four months ago and paid almost full amount 435 dollars out of 600. When I was picking the car I found additional charges of 800 dollars and another 500 dollars to be blocked on the debit card so 1300 dollars additional charges. When I couldn’t pay this amount due to limitation on single credit cards from my country, they didn’t give me the car and charged me for a cancellation fee of 170 dollars and claim they can’t return it due to “company policy”!!!! Horrible customer service

Can’t even verify my account

Tapping the “verify your account now” button on the email is a nightmare as it tries to open on safari, then opens on the app, then opens the App Store saying to open the app. It won’t even verify and then when I look at the app it says my account can’t be verified. So… I guess I just won’t have an account?

Need to update for iPad and iPad mini screen

This app looks fine on an iPhone, but it is HORRIBLE on an iPad. The screen is sized ONLY to an iPhone even when using on an iPad mini… developer needs to update this app. Shame because the Rentalcar.com’s service itself has been a really reliable and c value packed service for me for over a decade now. Even when used in third world countries.

Easy

I found this app, and it has been so easy to book a rental car rather than having to deal with the bigger travel websites.

A website masked as an app

Once you make a booking, website doesn’t do any amendment.. either call them by phone or cancel and give them your money as cancellation fees :)

Not worth it

Once is the passed the pickup time your money is lost. I payed 400 dollars for a rental and they offered 49.50 as a refund. Not good service as I called multiple phone numbers.

Very bad company

Never use this app they stole your money if you cancel your reservation they charge the entire amount. For one day rent (24 hours) they charged me $322.00 is so crazy. I chat with them I they don’t want to resolve the situation. I canceled 50 hours before the reservation and they don’t care anything. Very very bad company.

App is junk - will not pull up reservation

I made a car reservation through the website and hit a confirmation email saying to download the app to make the pickup / drop off process easier. Well, the app is junk and does not work. I tried repeatedly to pull up my reservation in the app with my email address and confirmation number and just get an error message. I’ve triple checked and I have my info entered correctly. I emailed support and was told : - make sure app is updated (it is, just downloaded) - log in / out, try again (I did. Same error message.) - delete app and reinstall and try again (same issue) Please fix your app.

Note: when placing a reservation through this company, the system will register the vehicle ‘in use’ prior to you picking up or being physically in the car. From that point forward, you will be unable to make any alterations, disputes or cancellations to your order until the point in time when your reservation is scheduled to terminate. As in my case, I cancelled my reservation directly with the provider due to a weather-related emergency, and the RentalCars.com support claimed to be unable to make any accommodation to my order until the reservation was complete. 5 days later when I was finally able to submit a dispute, I was asked to provide proof in the form of bank statements that I had paid for the reservation, and after nearly 2 months of little to no responsiveness from my assigned customer service representative, was informed by *LAURA* that I would not be issued any refund based on a claim that I lacked sufficient licensing to operate the vehicle that was never even used. The ethical questionability of RentalCars.com should not reflect the companies they contract out for service, but their customer service support is in league with Spirit Airlines for the worst I have ever had to deal with in my decades of personal- and work-related travels. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY FOR ANY REASON. Go direct to the providers for your car rental needs, and let this inadequate middle-man company burn in the millions they’ve stolen from their customers. To put simply, I was unsatisfied with my experience.
