Note: when placing a reservation through this company, the system will register the vehicle ‘in use’ prior to you picking up or being physically in the car. From that point forward, you will be unable to make any alterations, disputes or cancellations to your order until the point in time when your reservation is scheduled to terminate.
As in my case, I cancelled my reservation directly with the provider due to a weather-related emergency, and the RentalCars.com support claimed to be unable to make any accommodation to my order until the reservation was complete. 5 days later when I was finally able to submit a dispute, I was asked to provide proof in the form of bank statements that I had paid for the reservation, and after nearly 2 months of little to no responsiveness from my assigned customer service representative, was informed by *LAURA* that I would not be issued any refund based on a claim that I lacked sufficient licensing to operate the vehicle that was never even used.
The ethical questionability of RentalCars.com should not reflect the companies they contract out for service, but their customer service support is in league with Spirit Airlines for the worst I have ever had to deal with in my decades of personal- and work-related travels. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY FOR ANY REASON. Go direct to the providers for your car rental needs, and let this inadequate middle-man company burn in the millions they’ve stolen from their customers.
To put simply, I was unsatisfied with my experience.
